About Cacao

Did you know that Cacao beans can be identified by flavour into two distinguishable categories?

One is known as ‘fine flavour’ and the other as ‘bulk’. ‘Fine flavour’ cacao includes beans of premium flavour, aroma and quality, while ‘Bulk’ also known as ‘ordinary’ includes varieties considered to have a lower quality flavour.

Bulk varieties are generally used in food manufacturing when blended with other ingredients as the focus is not on its flavour. We support farmers of fine flavour cacao beans to ensure we don’t lose these varieties to cheaper, easier to cultivate, bulk varieties.

Do you want to know what all the fuss is about? Why not treat yourself and try one or all of our fine flavour cacao varieties and decide for yourself? Maybe you want to create your own blend and find the perfect combination for your taste buds?

Bare Seed source the highest quality, fine flavour, criollo, cacao varieties. We just love the ‘fine flavour’ varieties from Peru.
